Why we built this

Most charter captains are small businesses: one boat, one captain, maybe a mate. Many of the big booking sites take a percentage of every trip they book, often 10 to 20%, and that cut comes out of the captain’s pocket or gets built into the price the angler pays.

Unreel Charters works differently. We never take a cut of a booking. A basic listing is free, anglers reach the captain directly, and whatever gets booked is between the two of them. Captains who want more visibility can choose a flat-rate plan, and that is the only thing we ever charge.

For anglers

  • Search by the fish you want. Most people think “I want to catch redfish,” not “I want to fish in Louisiana.” Browse by species, by state, or by trip type, and filter by group size and fishing type in search.
  • Talk to the captain, not a call center. Every listing has a way to reach the captain directly: phone, a message form, or the captain’s own booking page where they have one. No booking fees from us.
  • Know who you are booking. Captains can show a verified USCG license, a state guide license and insurance on file. See how we verify.
  • Real reviews. Anglers can leave reviews of their trips, and you can save charters to compare later.

For captains

  • Free listing, no commission. Claim your listing and keep your photos, trips, species, rates and boat details up to date. It costs nothing, and it stays free.
  • Optional flat-rate plans. Pro and Featured add things like your full photo gallery and pricing, a Book Now button to your own booking page, higher search placement and a monthly traffic report. A flat fee, never a percentage.
  • Your customers stay yours. Inquiries go straight to you. We do not sit between you and the angler.

Who's behind this

Unreel Charters is built and run by Nate, from the South Coast of Massachusetts. It is a small, independent business, not a marketplace backed by booking fees. When a captain or angler writes in, Nate reads it and answers it.
