Commitment

Accessibility

Unreel Charters is committed to making our directory usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technologies. We are actively working to meet and maintain the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Unreel Charters aims to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The site is currently partially conformant, meaning most of the standard is met while we continue to address a small number of known items listed below.

What we've done

Accessibility is built into how the site is developed. Measures we have taken include:

  • Semantic HTML landmarks (header, main, footer) and a single descriptive heading structure on each page.
  • A “Skip to main content” link so keyboard users can bypass the navigation.
  • Programmatic labels on every form field, so screen readers announce what each input is for.
  • Text and interface colors that meet WCAG AA contrast minimums.
  • Visible keyboard focus indicators and a logical focus order.
  • Descriptive, unique page titles and meaningful text alternatives for images.
  • Touch and click targets sized for easier activation, including on mobile.
  • Support for browser zoom up to 200% and reflow without loss of content.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. We are aware of, and working to resolve, the following:

  • Some third-party or embedded content (such as maps or externally supplied media) may not fully meet our accessibility standards.
  • A small number of pages are undergoing contrast and reflow verification at the smallest screen widths.
  • Captain-submitted listing content may vary in quality; we provide guidance to improve it over time.

If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please let us know using the contact details below.

How we test

We assess accessibility through a combination of automated testing (using axe-core against WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules) and manual review, including keyboard-only navigation and checks of focus behavior, target size, and reflow. This statement is based on a self-evaluation. The site is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and their built-in assistive technologies.
