About the Captain
Our most common catch at Lake Dillon are Rainbow Trout followed by Kokanee Salmon, Arctic Char and Brown Trout. Every year we get around 30,000 catchable trout stocked and we have naturally reproducing populations of Kokannee Salmon, Arctic Char and Brown Trout. The Arctic Char were stocked from 2008 through 2015 and have been maintaining a targetable and catchable population. Dillon is on of two or three places in the mainland United States that you can catch Arctic Char. The Kokanee Salmon haven’t been stocked for over 40 years and Dillon boasts an over abundance of these small salmon. For their size, they are hard fighting and good to eat. The brown trout have never been stocked in the reservoir and are a wild self sustaining population. They are our largest, most illusive fish to target.
