About the Captain
We offer action packed ocean salmon fishing charters off the coast of Brookings, Oregon. All anglers are welcome to try their hand at catching fresh ocean King Salmon that pack a fierce bite! King Salmon are among the hardest-fighting sport fish in the Pacific Ocean and make incredible table fare. Chinook (King Salmon) swim in abundance off the coast of Brookings and are highly sought after by anglers looking for a hard fighting game fish. The Port of Brookings often achieves notoriety for having the highest salmon catch rate on the entire Oregon coast. The ocean salmon season typically runs early May through Labor Day. The King Salmon season re-opens in October for two weeks for the trophy season at the mouth of the Chetco River. During the summer months, large numbers of King Salmon from the Sacramento, Klamath, Rogue, Umpqua, Chetco, and Smith rivers feed off of the Southern Oregon Coast, making Brookings the ideal location to target them. Brookings Fishing Charters offers highly successful Lingcod and Rockfish charters that will take anglers to reefs that have low fishing pressure, just minutes from the harbor. Lingcod swim into shallow waters to spawn in the Spring months of March, April, and May, producing consistent action for this excellent tasting fish. We catch Rockfish, also known as snapper, rockcod, sea bass, and black bass all year long. We also catch halibut, when in season, as well as cabezon off the coast of Oregon. Brookings bottom fishing charters are especially popular because bottom fish are among the best-tasting for making fish and chips. Lingcod and rockcod have a firm, white flesh that is prized for its great taste and flavor. We use light tackle to catch rockfish and lingcod.
