About the Captain
Captain Kevin Linza grew up about 30 minutes north of Pittsburgh, where he spent most weekends traveling to Erie to fish. He learned how to troll for walleye, drift for steelhead, and cast for bass from some of the best fishermen known to fish these waters. He spent several summers working as a first mate in the Outer Banks learning how to fish saltwater. Kevin also fished competitively in Virginia for 10+ years in the tournament bass scene. Aside from guiding, Kevin teaches Physical Education at a local high school just outside of Erie and enjoys helping young anglers learn on the boat. All of these experiences have made Capt. Kevin a well-rounded angler who can adapt to the challenges that Erie can present. He will do his best to ensure you have a safe, fun, and successful trip each time out. We hope that you choose to share a day on the water with us soon! Many of you may be wondering where the name "Dirty 30" comes from. In walleye fishing, "Dirty 30" refers to catching a 30-inch or larger walleye, especially in tournament fishing or among serious anglers. The "dirty" part is just a slang way of making it sound impressive or legendary—kind of like saying, "That’s a beast of a fish!" Anglers who land a 30-inch walleye often consider it a major achievement since walleye of that size are rare and usually trophy-worthy. Some even keep track of their "Dirty 30" club catches. The phrase may also be used in the realm of tournament bass fishing. Traditional bass tournaments weigh your 5 largest fish of the day. Anglers who catch a 5- fish limit for over 30lbs consider it to be the "Dirty 30" and is a celebrated accomplishment. No matter which boat we launch in the morning, we are always setting out after the "Dirty 30"!
