Captain Ron was born to be a fisherman. He hit the water by the age of two and was on his first party boat by the ripe old age of five! He truly has a passion and skill for fishing that most do not.... and those that know him well - could say that not only is it his first love ..... it's his obsession. If the phrase "Hooked on Fishing" ever needed a poster boy - he'd be your man.In his younger years, he worked as a deckhand out of Emeryville and Half Moon Bay, first while working towards his college degree in Environmental Sciences and then part-time through the rest of his twenties and thirties.He's worked on many of the boats back then - so he not only knows who's who when it comes to the greats of fishing in California waters - he was friends with them too. It never hurts to have mentors like that. He has been on the water fishing for 56 years now - and knows all the hot spots around here like the back of his hand.Over twenty years ago he decided to go on and get his Captains License. And, with all those years on the big party boats, he was able to go a step further and get an accreditation for operating 100 ton vessels.He is currently the owner of two fishing boats and is operating the Nautilus Excursions out of Fisherman's Wharf, here in San Francisco.Always the man to go the extra mile, this boat, the Nautilus Excursion, is also the only Coast Guard Certified boat currently operating out of Fishermans Wharf......He'd want you to know his second love is cooking and if you are ever lucky enough to have him cook for you, you will not be disappointed!In his spare time, if he isn't commercial fishing, he is likely out hunting....or cooking!And, if you have never gone out on the ocean before, Capt. Ron has a couple of tips for you - it can get surprisingly cold out there so come prepared and you should probably take some motion sickness pills too.
