About the Captain
Who is Ron Merly? Ron is a well-accomplished angler that has been fishing the trout streams of Connecticut for over 45-years. Fly-rod in hand at the age of five, Ron possesses an impressive knowledge for both the fly and spin angler to learn from. He is the author of Flyfisher’s Guide to Connecticut, an award-winning outdoor writer (On the Water, Eastern Fly fishing and American Angler magazines) and he holds the current Connecticut state-record sea-run brown trout (2006, 10lb 8oz). Ron has also served as President of the Nutmeg Chapter of Trout Unlimited from 2009-12 and spent twelve years on their Board of Directors.
