About Captain Rebecca Brown
Northern New Hampshire is home to the headwaters of a the Connecticut, one of America's greatest rivers. I invite you to explore off the beaten path in the Connecticut River valley in pursuit of rainbow, brown, and brook trout as well as landlocked salmon. I offer walk and wade full and half days for beginners and experienced anglers. I offer personalized instruction in the essentials of fly fishing, including casting instruction and tune-ups, reading the river, understanding fish and insect behavior, fly selection and approach techniques. My job is to help you grow competence and confidence, and I tailor your trip to your needs, goals, and pace. Fly fishing is more than just a way to catch fish. It's an invitation to immerse ourselves in the beauty of this place. It's an opportunity to get out of our heads and busy lives and enjoy the solitude, the flow of the river, and find the wholeness of our being in the natural world.

Frequently asked questions
What's included in the trip?
Anglers should bring all their essential gear - wading staff essential and can be provided; waders/boots; lunch/snacks/water; polarized glasses; bug dope; hat; layers; etc. We may provide rods, reels, and waders/boots if needed (especially for beginners - don't feel like you have to go out and spend a lot of money!); fly shop has gear. I always talk with you ahead of time to get more specific so don't sweat the details now!
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes you need a NH fishing license. They are available online.
Are kids welcome?
Family groups are great - one parent/one kid at a time. Sometimes a family of four will split the day, for instance. Let's discuss ahead of time.
Do you clean and bag the catch?
Most place we fish are catch and release.
Do I need fishing experience?
Beginners are welcome, and we discuss your experience ahead of time.
What will we target?
Brook, brown, and rainbow trout, and landlocked salmon. Like the fish themselves, we are opportunistic.
Where can I stay?
Much of my guiding is in northern New Hampshire near the town of Pittsburg. There are loads of places to stay and I am affiliated with Lopstick Lodge, but staying there is not necessary. In the Ammonoosuc River region of Bethlehem/Littleton/Twin Mountain, there are also many lodging options; we talk ahead of time re where we'll fish and meeting places etc to find what lodging makes most sense.
Cancellation Policy
Full refund if we cancel for weather; 50% refund if cancel before 48 hours; no refund if less than 48 hours (unless verified emergency).
